I'm using Gmail in Chrome right now, and in Opera before that, but the underlying need caught my attention.

@equazcion: a standard phone jack has 3 pairs of wires, with the center pair being used for line 1. Many phone cords have only 2 pair, but you don't use a phone cord with this, so it really doesn't matter. This leaves you with two pair (4 conductors) for the hidden data stash.

This article came with great timing. I only recently started playing with video on my Blackberry, and Format Factory is one of the few apps I've tried that actually handles widescreen format videos properly. If it could adjust the volume in video files like it appears to do for audio files, it would be all I need to

@RayVonShabba: I haven't tried Format Factory for audio files yet, but I use MP3GAIN to get a consistent volume level across my MP3 files.

@amillians: I find that my drinks are most enjoyable when I get what I paid for.

@YolandaEpaphus: I don't know about you, but when I order a 32 ounce soda, and end up with less than 11 ounces of soda and more than 20 ounces of ice, it leave a bitter taste in my mouth, regardless of what Coke says.

I would love nothing more than to see those who caused this mess suffer greatly, both financially, and at the hands of their cell mates (or possibly even by way of some other part of their cell mate's anatomy). Sadly, I don't think anything like that will happen, with or without a bailout.

@equazcion: If we consider sarcasm a finite resource, and hoisted an appropriate amount of sarcasm on this, the world supply of sarcasm would run dangerously low for years to come.

@chadbailey: I was thinking the same thing. But then again, I'm on Verizon, so my GPS is crippled. Never mind.

Business cards are indeed more personal, and it sure looks UNprofessional to be at a meeting and NOT have business cards to hand out - so it is no way a replacement for business cards. However, a follow-up with this would be a nice reminder to keep your name/company fresh in the mind of the recipient, and save them

As with most things (IE excepted), Chrome will improve with age. My main concern with Google introducing Chrome is that it will become their browser of choice, and compatibility of Gmail, Google Apps, Google Maps, etc. with other browsers will take a back seat. What's next? A Google OS?

@ThickSkinned: I have no suggestions for what to tell the boss... if you want one that won't get you fired.

Setting Reply to All as the default should come with a big warning dialog advising the user that replying to all too many times can result serious injury or death, or at the very least, the recipients wishing these things upon you. Or maybe you should have to pass an email etiquette test before being able to change

I'm posting this via GMdesk right now. For the life of me I can't see any reason why I would continue to use it. I use Opera as my main browser, which has its problems with Google's stuff, and was hoping that this would allow me to use Gmail, but have links I clicked on open in Opera. But they don't. It's like a

#10 sounds good, but my recent experience is that the email addresses used for inviting such a calendar is invalid - there are no DNS records (A, MX, or otherwise), for group.calendar.google.com - the domain used for these addresses. It works if you're creating an event in another Google calendar and sending the

@johnsmith1234: I search using Google all the time, but I can't remember the last time I began a Google search by using any of Google's pages, except maybe on my phone. Though once I'm at the search results page I may modify my search terms there.

@Jim (The Canuck One): I do the same thing. I find that Capital One (bank) is always willing to provide envelopes and postage, enabling me to dispose of the junk mail remnants that remain after shredding anything containing personal information.

I don't want a president who is distracted by gizmos and gadgets. They don't have to know everything - that's what advisors are for. Making decisions after being properly advised - that's what Presidents are for.

1. User-definable "canned" messages and replies in the mobile app. Anything that cuts down the the typing on my phone would be appreciated.

Opera - It's taking some time - more than 30 days - but I'm becoming an Opera lover. I find that too frequently I come across poorly designed web sites (or even email in my Gmail account) that require horizontal scroll bars on my 1024x768 display that I now find Opera's fit to width invaluable.
