Yes, it is contributory negligence, which is an important distinction. This case in particular is somewhat fascinating to me in that it is a near perfect first-year Torts hypothetical on negligence. There is Jenner’s negligent (but sober) driving, the victim’s lack of a seatbelt and her expired driver’s license, blind…
I can appreciate the intense feelings surrounding auto-related fatalities (something I understand personally), but I also don’t like facts to be cast aside. The tape provides a (horrifying) insight into that day’s events, but Jenner has yet to be charged with any crime, let alone been named “responsible” for Mrs.…
I just want to say a few things in response to some of the advice you’ve received thus far.
Hah! Perfect.
*snort*
Better yet, an enormous, scary-ass Little Debbie.
Today, I’m reminded of some other little girls: Addie, Denise, Carole, and Cynthia. Their deaths over 50 years ago (also in a church) still scar our country. Like Solange, I’m tired. I’m angry. But mostly, I feel a sad sense of dèjá vu.
This whole damn thread (actually, all the Jezebel posts on Dolezal) have been bursting with trolls. Half of these usernames are brand new and the comments are a nightmare. I think they are multiplying!
Yes! Your posts in this thread have been like little oases of reasonableness. This whole saga has produced a shitshow of trolling commentary punctuated by transphobic assholes and amateur diagnosticians. Between this and Trump, I...just...can’t. My head hurts. I have to lay down. But carry on, though, because you’re…
God, that case has always bothered me. I agree that the so-called “silly string” video sealed her fate; I still don’t understand how it was let into evidence as it was clearly much more prejudicial than relevant. Darlie Routier had awful injuries from the night her boys died (both of her young sons were murdered),…
Then, I will throw flaming bags of shit at their house and egg their doorstep. Double Whammy! Here’s to Ungreying with discretion...
The user comments on the piece really got to me, too. I hated reading them, but, to me, those comments were the most instructive thing about this whole exercise. In particular, you mentioned the (many) commenters who felt “a real rape victim wouldn’t do this.” This was a nasty reminder of the way society both…
Okay, but only if we can employ a “gots to gots” pluralized variation from time to time. Sounds right.
Right above the comment section on her site, Sulkowicz writes:
Edit: “got to go”... I was so frazzled.
FYI: Don’t read any of the reader comments on any of the Palin People articles cited above. I’ve got to got lay down now. Oy.
If you are referencing the metropolitan area, I would agree that (tri-county) Detroit is certainly highly segregated. Interestingly, the city itself is not.
The KA’s would ride up on horses and invite the women to secede with them.
It is actually a misconception that Detroit is terribly segregated; in fact, Detroit has a higher integration rate than Chicago, Baltimore or St. Louis. In fact, Detroit doesn’t even crack the top 10 most segregated U.S. cities (Chicago is the most segregated).
