Well, that was kind of the whole point of my post. The store brands are often tied at an exaggerated length. As I said above, if you cut the ties you own shorter and retie, or buy by the yard and cut, say, every 7" (instead of every 9" like the store brand ties), the elastic will stretch significantly less. If I were…
I imagine one would have to use a lot of [sic]s if quoting her Facebook page.
The ribbon ties are exhorbitantly expensive in stores. But, here's a little secret for you: You can buy the EXACT same elastic ribbon online for 50 cents a yard. The store-bought ribbons are cut at a generous 9 inches long and then tied - it is a size that accommodates a wide variety of hair widths. However, if you…
Oh! I was wondering after I posted if you had meant information for you as a caregiver. Whoops. I can understand that side of it too - about a year ago my mom moved my 98-year-old grandmother into assisted living after caring for her for more than 20 years. I do know of one website that has a lot of help, links,…
This website is a great place for information on how to find a caregiver and what questions to ask potential candidates. Also, if you use an agency to find a caregiver, be sure to ask if they perform background checks on their employees - not all do!
Yeah. If I remember rightly, she was nominated for an Oscar for Boys Don't Cry.
We need more Gene Hackman in this world. I watched The Poseidon Adventure the other day and I was all "Where have you been, Gene?!"
Yes! I'm a faithful user of Yu-Be's Moisturizing Cream (my cure-all for dry skin). I order through Yu-Be's official website and they usually throw in a couple of lip balms for free (they are VERY generous with their samples). The lip balm has a Burt's Bees-type smell, and it has beeswax, aloe, shea butter, coconut…

Ah, SAE. Continuing their long and storied history of lamebrained, idiotic racism. I'm (unpleasantly) reminded of the stunt pulled off by the University of Cinncinnati chapter in the early '80s - a party "celebrating" MLK's birthday in which "...fraternity members sent fliers for the party to other fraternity and…
You absolutely did the right thing. On two separate occasions I have had a stranger's medical records accidentally faxed to me. Two separate patient records misfaxed from two separate entities (one a hospital, one a general practitioner). I was mortified. Both sets contained SSNs, addresses and specified medical…
Thanks, that was a cool read. I would never have imagined that there were stucco walls under that huge tangle of foliage behind the house.
I'm glad "Amy" and her husband have found their way to peace and happiness in their marriage. My comment is a rather simplistic one, but I think it is a great accomplishment for them to have discovered a place of contentment in this world.
This article is what I hope to find when I read a thinkpiece; that is, challenging to the readers' ingrown assumptions. I agreed. I disagreed. I considered. I laughed, too.
I first heard of Barnard months ago when he was featured on CNN and was (obviously) still at large. The CNN piece (hosted by John Walsh) featured a brave woman who was raped repeatedly by Barnard over a number of years; somehow, she had found the courage to leave the group and alert authorities. Appallingly, her…
Yep. I hate-watch CPAC to see the self-proclaimed "independent" or "center-right" Republicans like Bush try to ingratiate themselves with the kind of crazies who just lapped up that Robertson speech. The infighting within the conservative ranks provides me with the type of schadenfreude I can't get anywhere else.
...And my instincts about the typical CPAC attendee were right: "Genital Herpes guy" > Jeb Bush.
Hmm. I think that Kelly "Hey you guys, I'm like, actually, kinda considering, maybe, possibly, quitting the show" Osbourne will probably be back next week. I'm sure Zendaya will be interested in hearing Kelly explain to her why she continues to associate herself with a show that promotes racist comments.
This reminds me a bit of Don Lemon's infamous "There's the smell of marijuana in the air, obviously" comment during the Ferguson protests. All these stereotyping comments (Lemon/Rancic/Osbourne) are meant to demean and suppress a culture. That is fucked up.
