Exactly! There is this conception that racists are evil. And they are not evil, so therefore they couldn't possibly be racists.

People think that unless someone is actively burning a cross on someone else's lawn, they're not a racist. And even then, it might be borderline.

I teach a course on cultural diversity. Read a whole stack of final essays yesterday. In one of them, a student said he wasn't racist, then proceeded to explain that he didn't agree with interracial relationships or mixed race children.

I've noticed this too about HAES. My understanding, when I first came across this concept about 5-6 years ago, was that everyone should exercise in a way that is fun for them and eat a mindful and reasonably healthy diet. No dieting or restriction or working out until you puke. No trying to lose weight or suffering

I LOVED that meal. I still make my husband make "Italian Dunkers" - french bread with melted cheese, dipped in tomato sauce. Delish!!

It's so dumb!

God, I hate that stupid ultimate deference to the customer, "mustn't ever make them feel as if they are being rude or obnoxious in any way" mindset. When I worked in retail I was allowed to start vaccuming, close the register, even lock the doors - my manager was awesome and told me to do these things "as obviously as

My husband just started a salaried job with paid time off at a college library. He gets Christmas Eve and Christmas as paid holidays, but then the library is closed the rest of the week, and he is required to take those days as vacation days. He can't opt to just not get paid, he must use his vacation. Except he

The problem we have is that we're the only no kill in the region, so there is about a two or three month wait to surrender a pet. We don't take strays - owners have to pay a surrender fee and present a current rabies tag. The homeless pet situation down here is out of control, we try to help out the local county

Ugh, people! We get a lot of dropoffs and drivebys too. The last one, a VERY sweet blue pit, had a broken leg and a tail that had to be amputated, it was so messed up. We're guessing car accident, but who knows. Literally they pulled up to the shelter, pushed the dog out of the car, and sped off. I guess they at least

I know a couple pits who are service or therapy animals - they are really good for that because they're so loyal and smart, and having a task is great to keep them mentally and physically active.

I've worked with a lot of pits and they are generally very smart, very stubborn, and pretty high energy. That's a bad combination for a lot of people - especially because they're also very strong. And with a rescue pittie, sometimes it's been through some difficult times and needs an even more dedicated and

I volunteer for a Humane Society in North Carolina. We cannot keep chihuahuas in the shelter for longer than 48 hours because of the high demand.

Truth. Just the other day I had to explain to my husband what a rimjob even IS. It was not our most sophisticated conversation ever.

DELICIOUS!!!!

I have a 29 year old friend in Chicago who just had her tubes tied. If you're close to the city and you're interested, I could find out the name of her doctor.

It took me two years to find The One in the semi-boonies where I live now. And it was funny, because after I found her, I learned that several of my friends were already her clients. Why were you hiding her from me, friends?!

I started going grey in my early 20s. I say embrace it! The color is actually quite beautiful and interesting.

I always was afraid to cut my hair very short, for similar reasons. I was worried it would make me look fat, or that I just wouldn't look like the adorable pixie cut ladies I saw. Finally I took the plunge a couple of years ago and it. is. amazing. I LOVE my hair. I have so much more confidence and I feel so cute and

Yeah, I hate wearing helmets too, for all the reasons you mentioned.
