My students sometimes turn in essays with those "tells" (different font, text color, embedded links, etc). It makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Do they think I'm that stupid, or are they just too lazy to reformat, or...?

I see constant confusion about what plagiarism is and how to do proper citations, but I teach Associates Degree and I would definitely expect better from Masters Students. Yikes.

I teach online (associates degree), and I've had this issue. I would not be able to share what I was doing to try and stop the plagiarizing with your mother as that would be a violation of the plagiarizer's privacy. Where I teach, I would of course inform the student that their behavior was inappropriate, give them a

Metabolically healthy overweight and obese people have no increased risk for heart disease or cancer: http://healthland.time.com/2012/09/05/can-you-be-fat-and-fit-or-thin-and-unhealthy/ (link in article for full study)

+5 for this poem, and +5 for your user name.

I studied abroad in Britain for a year and now, almost ten years later (gosh I'm old), I sometimes have trouble with British accents. I really like many British TV programs and watch a lot of Masterpiece Theater/classics/mystery stuff on Netflix, and I often watch with subtitles on. Not because I have no idea what's

All holidays are social constructions, so... I'm not sure there's much point in arguing about which ones are "real" or not.

Yes. No way I'm sticking my hand in a freaking public toilet. Do you people explode if you have to use a port-a-potty? It's gross, it's ten seconds of your day, you'll live.

I didn't write that post, but it seems to me that the person you were replying to was in no way making the claim that formula is better. I'm pro-breastfeeding all the way, but hearing a constant barrage of rabid pro-ANYTHING is obnoxious. I think the person was just blowing off steam.

Personally, it concerns me that some people seem to be incapable of understanding that even people they do not personally know and love are human beings. I mean, I'll take it, and I'm happy for him and for his son. It's just - worrying.

Dude, no one is saying that formula is better or even equal to breastmilk. It says that right in the article. Chill.

I kind of wish rage-menses was a thing.

*Silent applause*

Yes, obviously the correct response here is for my dog - who has NEVER actually hurt a child because I DO NOT LET HER - to remain inside for the rest of her life, where I suppose she would learn to what, use the toilet? I live in an apartment complex where kids often play outside. I avoid taking her outside when I see

I'm a longtime Humane Society volunteer and we have fostered many difficult dogs. I also often volunteer at adoption stands in busy places like PetSmart or Walmart. Many people are SO CLUELESS about dog behavior. And small children are the worst. They will charge up to our chocolate lab (who is a total douchebag and

Soooo... now that I've read it... this is a self-published memoir of badly edited journal entries by one of the Swan contestants, Tawyna. Lots of talk about dieting and working out for 2+ hours in a gym with covered windows (I guess the contestants weren't allowed to see themselves during the time when they had the

So classic romantic comedies are about couples overcoming social taboos to find love, and we don't have any barriers to married bliss now, huh? Ok, that's true for STRAIGHT couples. So let's see some GLBT rom-coms! There have been a few great ones, but none very mainstream (unless I'm forgetting something obvious).

Already on my kindle, my friend. 3.99 on Amazon.

Me too. Honestly I don't know if I'm pretty or not. And same experience with high school vs. life after high school concerning interest from others. Though I might be just totally clueless. I never realized I had big boobs until college - and it's not really a relative thing, either, I'm a DD. I just always figured

Me too. Do not get what is special about that book.
