Also, who the hell test-fires a superpowered ballista in an enclosed space?

Agreed, and I also thought it was great how Tyrion worked in that quote (“all dwarves are bastards in their fathers’ eyes”) to ensure Jon knew it was him writing it and not writing it under any kind of duress. Without that quote, Jon doesn’t go south because he can’t risk the double-cross. It’s still a risk, to be…
I love that his proof-of-concept is shooting a 300-year-old skull, as if that bone is just as strong as a living dragon.
He said that was only step one. Step two involves applying a paste.
I figure it was one of those things like needlework and curtsying that Old Nan made Arya learn when she really wanted to be fighting Bran.
Totally. “Oh, and by the way, we have THIS!”
Or the fact that living bone is much stronger than dry bone.
And as much as I hate this term, Tyrion and Sansa never consummated the marriage?
Hitting a dragon in flight with a ballista is totally realistic. I saw it happen in How to Train Your Dragon.
My favorite parts were Tyrion and Jon commenting on each other. Seeing Tyrion’s face light up on hearing that Jon was King in the North was just priceless, kind of reminded me of Thor’s “We know each other!” And vice versa, part of Jon’s justification for going South was that he trusts Tyrion, and even Sansa…
So I know in the books there’s talk of an item that Euron either possesses or is seeking, that is said to be able to control dragons. This hasn’t been mentioned at all on the show at this point. I was assuming that what Qyburn had in the basement was going to be this item, or something else that would serve the role…
I was watching the episode this morning as I got ready for work. I was making scrambled eggs riiiiiight about when that transition hit. Turned off the stove, put the eggs back in the fridge. I’ll just wait for lunch to eat today.
They’re two for two on those this season. I think they upped the ante from the stew scene from last week.
Why doesn’t Jon ever take 2 minutes before these meetings to give Sansa a heads up? ‘Hey, remember that conversation we had earlier? I decided I’m gonna go meet up with my aunt, you’re in charge while I’m gone. Cool?’ Dude, take 30 seconds to give her a reason not to yell at you in front of your bannermen.
Nah, Sansa is playing the long con, and doing it very well — remember, she said she’s learned from Cersei.
She was right though, every Stark that has been called south away from home has ended up dead. Her uncle, her grandfather, father and brother. All of them dead when ever they answer a summons or go off to fight.
I wonder how much Arya knows about Littlefinger betraying Ned. I could definitely see that end up being Littlefinger’s downfall. I feel like his days have to be numbered.
I think that might be the first time. she finally gets that Jon isn’t fucking around he really doesn’t give a shit about being Lord of Winterfell- he’s playing a completely different game for different stakes than Sansa or Littlefinger can even comprehend
Yes, that’s exactly what was said in the “inside the episode”. It’s supposed to mirror season 1 when Ned is talking to Arya about how she’ll grow up and become a lady and whatnot, she says to him “that’s not me”.
Samwell Tarly doing his best Ramsey Bolton impression.
