Sickening. And then to claim it had nothing to do with his death? I wouldn’t be surprised if that kind of cruelty killed a healthy person, let alone an ill one. The Stanford Prison Experiment was 45 years ago and we have learned absolutely nothing.
Ummmm, what the heck does “gassing” mean in this sentence?
Or getting raped or tortured, which GRRM loves to do to people.
That was absolutely fascinating and terrifying. “What do we do when machines get too smart?” is a common theme in science fiction. There is a new show on AMC, HUMANS, where humanoid robots (Synths) are becoming really popular. The protagonist’s daughter stops trying in school because she knows there is nothing she can…
Also, Breaker of Chains. She’s not perfect, but she tried really hard to help people.
You are definitely taking a risk if that unfinished story is written by GRRM. I’m like a quarter of the way through A Dance With Dragons, so I haven’t gotten to Arya the Assassin yet. But that dude can’t be trusted. He’ll rip your heart right out. He also brings people back from the dead, so you’re never safe.
I’m a little confused as to why we are supposed to hate her. She adopted two kids, she rescues animals, and she spoke out against sexism even when it cost her. She seems kind of awesome. What am I missing?
I was so scared that Pro-Gun people were going to be able to use this story in their favor. “See! She owes her life to being a gun owner!” But thankfully, this guy just proved once again that you are a danger to yourself and others when you carry a gun. http://www.slate.com/articles/healt…
My brother-in-law, also a doctor, is a HUGE Star Wars fan and has a last name similar to “Solo.” They joked forever about naming their son “Han,” but went with Lucas instead. That kid will be devastated if Skywalker goes over to the Dark Side.
Oh, that is so mean. My dad was a “prankster,” too. He would throw pillows at us when we were learning to walk so that we would fall and set us up on fenceposts until we cried. It is a total mystery why my parents got divorced.
My mom was naked ALL THE TIME. Like, she would cook my sisters and me breakfast naked. Once she was wandering down the hall naked and she had to run and hide before my sister’s boyfriend saw her. We even bought her a special robe for her birthday as a hint. It didn’t work. But I think now she regrets it a little.…
That reminds me of my cousin. She is five months older but about 8 inches shorter. She was obsessed with showing me up and being the older one. When I stayed over at her house, she always slept on her bed and I slept on the floor. Once I asked to sleep on couch cushions, and she tried to say no because she didn’t want…
Here is my first and only “Valium Story.” I watched “The Grudge” when I was 17. I was so terrified that my mother had to give me half a Valium and hold my hand until I fell asleep.
Except she probably could have said it better. There was an entire thread yesterday devoted to deciphering Katy’s tweet.
Well I’m convinced!
AGREED. It would just be torture. They are so inconsistent, that every once in a while, they would actually manage something decent, and suck you in all over again. It’s like an abusive boyfriend who is really nice sometimes.
Well then let’s hope she starts a new trend, because otherwise she’s going to run out of customers ril fast. I’m going for a visit next week. I will report back if I see a lot of white ladies with spray tans and blonde dreads.
It reminds me of this short story: The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas. The basic premise is that our happiness depends on the suffering of others, and most of us are fine with it.
Thanks! I now want one really badly.
