Bungie released a list of approved add-ons and said that others can result in a ban. I’m not sure if this particular program is actually detectable or not, but it seems like something that would add aim assist to mouse/keyboard controls would likely be an add-on that could lead to a ban.

No. I think it would be akin to using the PS4 Party Chat system as opposed to in-game chat.

They didn’t ban a ton. They banned around 400 out of the hundreds of thousands that are playing on PC. Seems like a very small percentage, small enough that they could have legitimately been banned for cheating.

The GameCube controller is the most efficient and intuitive controller created for mainstream consoles.
