I build my computer specifically for Diablo 3 . . . in the Summer of 2009 . . . .

This reminds me of the time the young son of one of my wife's best friends handed his mother a post-it note that said "If you don't hang up my Star Wars poster soon. Kick Punch." Followed by a picture of one stick figure wailing on another. We don't mess with Sam anymore . . .

I agree with you completely. I think there's a bit of leeway in the beginning of a generation's lifespan for considering new games "next generation" as the capabilities of the hardware come to light, and the expectations of the media and consumers are still being formed . . . however, we're well past that point,

I am noticing no less than 3 separate iterations of the PC-Engine. This person is my new hero.

My conception of what defines a generation is a combination of a consideration of both tech trends, consumer expectations, and actual historical data (ie. date ranges of releases). I come from the oldschool camp of defining generations by bits. Genesis and SNES where the 16 bit generation, Saturn and PS1 the 32 bit,

Agreed. We're officially at (if not well past) the point where we can start referring to the 360 and PS3 as "Current Gen" hardware. Although, considering how the last Epic Mickey was Wii only, this is "Next Gen" for these guys.

I'm a bit of a game hoarder. Here's what I have aside from my okay-but-but-not-great-for-gaming PC:

You're not alone in this at all. I tend to have to same reaction to any female character that I end up liking, not just the young ones. Some people are just born nurturers, and there's no reason a game's narrative can't activate that in you the way any other story could.

Salad Fingers?

The Allure of Diablo III is really twofold:

That's entirely possible. I don't mean to slight Vesperia at all. I'm sorry if I came across as having anything against the game. It's a great title from NamcoBandai, and thought it was charming and very pretty. It's less a decision based on perceived quality than it is an attempt to stay current with the industry

Oh, I definitely would restart. I just mean that I'm unlikely to ever play Vesperia again no matter what point I set out from. I've got too much currently on my plate and in my backlog that are far more important to me than an RPG from 2008 that I wasn't that invested in in the first place for a system that I don't

The only game that I ever really subscribed to the "play opposite gender of myself so that I will enjoy the backside that I have to stare at for hours" train of thought in was Phantasy Star Online. Sweet sweet HuNewearl . . .

Yeah, you recommended that to me afew days back when I commented on the same boss fight in a different article. Not a bad idea; however, the likelihood that I'll ever go back to the game at this point is slim to nil.

At least you were able to get far enough to slay the Skeleton King. :(

This game has completely seeped into my brain. I'm currently sitting at work, obviously unable to play. So I open up your screenshot to see who Fahey was partying with, minimized the window to do something, and when I came back, I tried to mouse over the inventory window to see the stats on his cape. When no new

That's what I was assuming . . . I just didn't have the patience to grind because I had so many other titles sitting in my backlog that I was itching to fire up. I got so frustrated by the sudden difficulty spike, because the game was such a smooth, pleasant cruise up to that point.

Oh lordy that screenshot brings back some grim memories! That wolf boss battle forced me to rage-quit Vesperia and never return.

WOW Threads of Fate. In my youth I used to play that and Brave Fencer Musashi in a constant cycle.

Otogi 3 would be friggin' incredible. I don't think people realize how much of the atmosphere and aesthetic of the original 2 Otogi games made its way into Demon's/Dark Souls.
