I agree in principle with the critique that Disney—and close to all media companies, really—need to grow a spine with regards to true LGBTQ+ representation.

Is he gender fluid though? “Prime” Loki presents as male, unless he’s being duplicitous.

Oseman has mentioned the sexualities of most of the main characters, some still have “???”, but Tao is written as specifically straight, and I think there are a few lines about him knowing her before she came out.

It was supposed to happen at the BAFTAS, my guess it someone was going to leak it ahead of time. 

Outside of him being black, is this the first Doctor not to be born in the UK? That’s a big deal too.

Who is a global brand the BBC sell, it’s very British, but has to make money internationally.

Grant would have been great in the role - he openly didn’t want it, Gatwa is amazing casting though, I love him in Sex Education.

It won’t be as cute, but it will be as good - there are a lot of struggles ahead that Oseman has written so beautifully about, and a strong positive representation of mental health issues from this perspective is something really needed.
