I hope so, but at 39, with no desire to fulfill the dreams of some guy who has aspirations of a house on a cul de sac and keeping up with the neighbors (which is his and anyone’s right who wants this), I haven’t had much luck.

What is the option for those of us that didn’t get picked for the proverbial kick ball team and are still standing on the sidelines waiting? It doesn’t get any easier the older you get, that’s for sure.

I would also add to that that they are good PR. When they are not dealing with chaos, the officers on the horses 99% of the time are friendly and good with people approaching and petting the horses and bringing their kids up. It’s a positive interaction with minimal work on their part.

Horses will get you above the crowd so you can see what is going on. They’re ideal for big festivals and shit. People generally like horses, so it’s good PR for them to be social and let everyone pet the horses while they keep an eye on things.

We have mounted police in the city where I live and they primarily work downtown, festivals, and outdoor concerts. I have seen them make arrests (they loved to hang out around the park we skated in), and when following procedure, they do like bike cops do and call a car to come transport whomever it is they picked up,…
