If you do a lot of swimming, then get some ear drops designed to help remove water or use earplugs. If it's a one-time swimming event, you're probably at pretty low risk of developing swimmer's ear unless you're in some particularly nasty water.

The Aqua Notes are a great idea. I actually keep a dive slate in my shower for brainstorms but these would probably be a put easier to use.

There are a lot more ways to remove ticks that are better than the tweezers method. The emergency department I work in got the lasso style removers this year and it's become my preferred method.
