You are, and always have been, paying out of your pocket for someone else. Your tax dollars pay for road, police, fire etc. They pay for healthcare and retirement plans of public workers. They pay for children to go to school they pay for jails, they pay for soldiers and missles and aircraft characters. Billions go

I agree that for the stuff you do online Evernote and the like are the way to go. When I think of "taking notes" I'm thinking more in the lines of a meeting or conference type classes. If I'm trying to use tech, I end up missing half of the information. With handwritten notes I can write unconsciously without the

I don't know that I would scan them. I look at it like taking minutes at a meeting. I would pull out the salient points and clarify them. Going through my messy, disorganized handwritten notes would be an exercise in futility for someone else.

But first you need to find a way to import the handouts you just got into a pdf vs using the pen in your hand on the paper right in front of you.

Having a nice view from your office is a good thing. But even if you're stuck without a view, you can still make your office a better space. You could learn to choose (or build) the perfect desk. Gotta say that I'm sold. I've put in a preorder and can't wait to see it.

I love all things tech, but there is nothing has supplanted pen and paper. Cheap, fast, portable, scaleable and flexible there's just nothing out there that comes close. Call me when they make an app where I can make notes and doodles in the margins of handouts!

This really isn't a disposable email address as much as a sorting option.

I live in rural New Hampshire. I barely have the intertubes! ;-)

Yeah we seem to be in that spot like the hay day of PCs where people were afraid to buy because a better computer would be out in 4 months. Like then, I guess I'll just need to hop on the bandwagon at some point. ;-)

Great article Alan, you always seem to put out good stuff.

I have a CR-Z as well. I tuck stuff around the spare and if you get rid of the round piece of styrofoam that sits in the spare you'll gain some extra storage space. Combined with the two depressions behind the front seat I find I have more than enough space to carry those "just in case" items.

The paint will probably crack and chip and if it's petroleum-based it might degrade the plastic covering of the cable.

I will often use a black sharpie on those. It dims the LED down, but you can still see it if you need to.

I installed it. It looks very nice, but when I tried to change the alarm tone, it says that's a premium feature requiring an in app purchase. Really? In app purchases on a f-ing alarm clock?!? Uninstalled.

I agree. While there's no way to become indispensable you can make sure that you're part of the "good" 20% (using the 80/20 rule)

Lower your standards and increase your odds!

I use Feedly on my laptop but found the android app to be a bit buggy. It would sometimes fail to load articles, requiring me to exit the program and restart it at which point the article would be there.

As someone who lives 40 minutes from the nearest "real" store, I find my prime membership to be hugely valuable in that I'm saving gas money and my time. I also love the fact that I don't need to create a shopping list. Think of it, order it. Done.

This is all kinds of awesome! I've always hated that archives messages would still show—problem solved!
