I agree with you on St. Elsewhere, and mentioned the same somewhere else maybe.  I only slightly disagree with you on HSB, but think although great, a small step below.  Maybe a little too much absurdity/melodrama for me.  I can’t speak to The Defenders, so differ to you.

He was fantastic.  A hill I am prepared to die on is the “Homicide” was the first prestige drama  on TV, and set the stage for The Sopranos and The Wire (duh). Makes 3!  Started watching it yesterday with my 12-year-old daughter (felt that I could finally turn away from Kornacki), and it is fantastic.  The visuals were sumptuous, acting top notch, and story engaging.  

What is that green dye on his hand and thumb?  And I 100,000% believe him to be a wife beater.

The thing that stands out to me in these clips is how effortless so much of it was. He always played with a joy that was contagious, but it was so fucking easy for him! He’s smiling, joking, laughing and just throwing down fucking killer riff after killer riff. Amazing. What a loss.
