I definitely don’t save as much as I should because I know my parents would be able & willing to bail me out in any worst case scenario. But I also recognize that this is an extremely privileged position to be in and that my behavior is pretty immature (I'm working on it). I also would never advice the general

If you buy something online from a retailer using your credit card and the item/service is not delivered you can contact your the credit card company to start a dispute. They'll almost always refund you the money and start an inquiry into that retailer, and if enough people dispute payments with that retailer the

The first word (i.e., “These”) is hyperlinked to the product page. I guess because I’m hanging out in the greys on this sub-blog (and because Kinja’s design is lacking a lot of foresight) it’s hard to tell that there's a link.

These are the only ballet flats I’ve ever had that survived daily wear (full disclosure: I tend to walk 3+ km/day) without looking like trash in under 6 months. I’ve had my pair for over a year & the sole looks almost brand new still.

I’m not trying to be an internet therapist. I’m aware that some people feel very self conscious about others judging them in public even though they know realistically most people don’t actually care. My point is, it’s unrealistic for you to expect others to cater to your food issues. Up to the point of someone

Okay, but here’s the thing - care less about what people who don't know you and who don’t have any influence in your life think about you. I may post a comment here saying “scooped bagels are dumb”, but you know what I do when the person in front of me in line at the deli orders a scooped bagel? Nothing. Seriously

So, the intent of your comment was to point out that someone somewhere might be justifying their binge eating because some people make fun of “in-between” foods. Ok. Great contribution.

I don’t think what you’re describing is in-between shit to most people. Not ordering a side when your entrée is already less nutritious is just exercising moderation. People need to get out of the mindset that there are inherently bad foods. There are foods that are less nutritionally balanced than other foods, but

See, I definitely remember showering with my mom a fair bit at a young age & I still remember distinctly when I realized that she didn’t have a culturally “ideal” body. I also remember noticing this about the ladies at the community center pool as well. Basically, what I’m saying is I was exposed to a fairly diverse

Well said! I also think people tend to believe women are more natural empathizers than men because empathy is not associated with “logical” thinking in our culture.* And every just knows (major eye roll) that men are more logical than women.

Agreeing with fortheloveofbeets. Empathy is just understanding that other people have their own issues, perspective and life experiences. It’s definitely not condoning how they choose to handle their issues or approving of how they behave.

I've kind of always thought of empathy being like languages. You can learn it or improve at it at pretty much any point in your life, but it's a lot easier to pick up as child.

I’m hoping it’s not hot yoga, since that’s supposed to be done at 105F+ temperatures, which would not be very nice to the kitty. Also, actual hot yoga practices don’t have inversions in them, since at 105F+ you are way more likely to pass out or even just slip because of the sweating factor.

I think Coachella is really the only US festival that is comparable to Glastonbury. Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo are also both more well known US festivals, but are still not really comparable to Glastonbury. Governors Ball is in NYC, so I think NYC-dwellers (aka most of Gawker Media’s writing staff) feel like it’s more

Maybe they live in one of those states where you have to be registered to a party to vote in their primary? That’s all I got.

I was actually in an audience test screening for this. It was pretty good! Not quite Pan’s Labyrinth-level good, but very entertaining.

...downplaying the menace of drug dealing (which has resulted in prisons and morgues full of young POC)

I’m perpetually confused by people who arbitrarily deem certain jobs demeaning because they are generally done by low-income or low-skill workers and don’t understand that their thinking is inherently classist. Mind-boggling, really.

I think it’s a job that people take because they need a job.

I agree that Channel 4 is not going to go for the straight up puff promotional piece and that celebs need to adjust their expectations accordingly. However, that play in the RDJ interview was weak - “Hey there’s 3 min left, let me ask a really vague & extremely rambling question about #1 your poor relationship with
