Reread my post, that's not what I said. I said I grew up playing mature games too, but I think they're inappropriate. I think pornography and George Carlin stand up are inappropriate for an 11-year old, too. It's not that they're going to "damage" the kid or make him act violently, but parents should provide less

The difference is an R-rated movie has maybe like 20-30 minutes of violence out of a 2 hour movie. M-rated games have hours and hours of near non-stop violence where the kid is the one pulling the trigger. And a lot of the time, it's more explicit in the games too. I don't think kids should watch R-rated movies, but a

Same here. I'd ask if they were aware it was rated M and what that meant, and they'd just give me a look like I was telling them how to raise their kid. I guess if it keeps them distracted while mommy has her wine, they don't really care.

I dont know how old you are, so I don't know how graphic the particular GTA was that you were playing. But drugs, violence, lots if sex, lots of profanity and maybe some semi-realistic graphics shouldn't be made available to a kid for hours at a time. If I were a parent, I wouldn't let my kids play GTA, and I grew up

Wow, I definitely don't think of American cartoons as pedestrian or juvenile. There are some smart shows. I think of Archer, Venture Bros. Those are great shows. Then there's the stuff Pendleton Ward is coming out with, which appeals to a really wide demographic, and the Cartoon Hangover shows. There aren't many

I had considered that before, but then you see the spotter below him toward the end. Either way, one of them is really damn good.

Here's my reminder. This guy is not as jacked looking, but seriously. Holy god.

I don't understand why this isn't higher on the page. It's clearly the only acceptable pun.

Doesn't age you say?

Just out of curiosity, where did you get journalism degree in, "Asymco researcher and former Nokia analyst Horace Dediu"?

That's bizarre. I read Kotaku all the time and this is the first time I remember seeing the gif. I guess I must have selective-gif-viewing.

Yeah, this is apparently "everywhere on the Internet" though. News to me.

I think Metal Gear is total nonsense. The characters are outlandish to the point of being painful to watch and the dialog is straight up awful. It's the cheesiest most overwritten stuff I've ever seen.

Definitely one of the most played and most formative games of my life. I don't even know how many times I played this game. Ifmonly I had a PS3 to play the HD release.

As for video games being the whipping boy for laziness, I find TV to be far worse. 9 out of 10 shows on TV are absolutely mindless and focus on the lowest common denominator. And they require no input. Games at least require engagement and thought, TV just requires you sit and stop thinking entirely.

The other theory about the Wii U 's slow start is that people might not know it exists, that they think it's just a peripheral. This very issue cropped up shortly after the Wii U's E3 2012 debut.

I assume (hope) you run from Chucky, not that you play as Chucky and then slash other innocent people and dash.... right?

Resident Evil is a far better name. It's more poetic and more ominous sounding. Biohazard doesn't have the "horror" element to it; it's just a mental image of dudes in white hazmat suits cleaning up sewage.
