This review did not mention Lords of Thunder or Ys 1&2, which are both standouts. LoT was particularly famous for its music, which was ridiculously 80's-guitar infused and just so lovely. :)

But yeah, the TG16mini is missing some real classics: Final Lap Twin (racing game with a surprisingly great RPG mode), Devil’s

Hm. I always felt like Infinite’s ending wasn’t that good - trying and failing to recreate the mindfuck of the original Bioshock’s climax, and making a hamfisted statement about stories and metaphors.

I think it would have played better for me if the series had actually been a set of re-imaginings of the same plot.

The Final Fantasy VI ending is the one ending I really wanted to see on this list. The score was amazing, and each character not only got their moment to shine but also their endings demonstrated either their character growth or what they’d do after the game ended.

And then it had a wildly energetic ‘ending’ sail over

This is a terrible fucking idea and also something I’d really like to see.

Also worth noting that putting voting information into something like Pokemon Go would have genuinely been a great idea for voter outreach and so on, but oh my god could I have done without the “Pokemon GO TO THE POLLS” cutesiness.

Now playing

Yaddle was mentioned in Fallen Order - your pilot thinks she’s the shit. Some very slight spoilers:

They’d have to limit the skill unlocks to just combat ones or the amount of sequence breaking would be insane.

But you’d think you’d carry over life & force pool upgrades, at least.

It’s a lot better than the review indicates.

The ultimate story arc doesn’t really change depending on your actions - either way, Vault 79 gets plundered. Some personal reactions to you change depending on your actions, and you can avoid doing extra quests or get extra items with sufficient dialog checks.

The ‘grind’,

The communist collectron doesn’t ever say it’s going to get rare weapons. That said, my typical load after an hour or so is something like this:

* 5 propaganda flyers
* 3 ball-peen hammers
* 4 Tato Stews
* 2 Frags (of some type)
* Misc other junk

The stew is actually pretty useful. The grenades are all right, and the rest

Aw. Well, I understand your reasons for leaving but I can’t say I’m not disappointed - your writing here has always been lovely to read.

Have a great time out there, Jason - and keep up the great work. :)

I’m having the opposite experience. They basically took the best part of Fallout 4 (exploration and sort of the combat) and put it into a multiplayer space. The new expansion is something I really like so far: Fun, seems to have a fair amount of people in it, and the NPCs are providing much better feel than the

Nah, we need them to have an official retro NBA Jam tournament instead.

As much as I love this:

1) I wish it had come out before Super Tuesday
2) When Bernie runs out of health, does he have a heart attack?

“Currently, the platform, genre and release date are all to be decided.”

The “As our time in WoW comes to an end” quote is interesting, if it comes from someone currently working at Blizzard. I suppose it’s not clear if Pivitol wrote it or not.

I know the Chikorita baker personally. Apparently after she bombed (her words) she thrust her hand into the cake and pulled out its ‘heart’ in front of the production crew.

Took a huge bite. Offered it to the crew.

Arg. You’re both excellent and I’m already missing both of you. Your articles were insightful and frequently from a viewpoint I didn’t see elsewhere >_<

Right there with you. When I played FF VIII for the first time, I felt like the amnesia subplot basically ruined the whole thing and was a cheap gimmick.

Characters with backstory? Nope, they all had the same backstory except for Rinoa. Oops, GFs cause memory loss and everyone just happened to forget it. Lots of things

PA is making the point that Valve is making bad decisions and people will play it anyway.

It is similar in a lot of ways. Vastly different combat, but traversal works similarly. And this game has you revisit locations after unlocking new movement abilities.

Honestly, if they’d done a remake of Jedi Knight II and just fit into the story slightly better (with some rogue inquisitors instead of Dark Jedi, maybe set before A New Hope a little, it would be pretty cake. They wouldn’t have to change much in terms of story or locations, though the level design would have to be
