Officially designated holidays are money-making scams created by business corporations - which proves said these so-called "holidays" (e.g., Mother's Day) are concocted by money-grubbing business executives. Do you want to honor your mother this Mother's Day? Then create a hand-made card, no matter how poorly-drawn

"Little" things like that can make a big difference to people. Good health wishes to both of your parents.

Exactly!

Exactly. These loser MRAs love to spout these crazy, made-up, fake statistics that all men are weak, helpless victims of female violence - but the fact is, violence against men is perpetrated by other men.

No. Because Jezebel's tagline is "Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women."

I'm pretty excited about the mansplaining that's happening in a few threads. I just live for mansplaining.

It's threatening to some men when they don't get to control the conversation.

Because it's all about them and they get cranky when it's not.

Why do males feel compelled to hijack the conversation here, and in other stories here, and in life in general? I'm getting tired of this. Like they don't have anywhere else to go. Like women don't listen to this crap enough, everywhere, about all topics, even our own. For the love of Zeus, guys.

I don't think she's saying that comedy needs to change first, or that it needs to change independently of society at large. She's saying that comedy is part of the society that we're trying to change. That saying, "It's just a joke!" is not actually a defense against valid criticism of destructive elements of comedy

Dude, Lindy already confirmed that she didn't make or defend the whole #killaman hashtag thingy so go and take your hobby-horse elsewhere.

Precisely! 'I'm a white man who has the guts to make fun of women, gays and the disabled. I'm so cool and edgy! I'm speaking Truth to Power!'

Agreed so much. Saying you're "not afraid" to be politically incorrect means, "I want to be able to say racist/sexist/homophobic/ableist things without consequence! And I want you to hail me as a truth-teller and visionary while I do it!"

"I know you think you're being transgressive and edgy and bad-in-the-cool-way when you are careless with the trauma of strangers, but you're not. You are being conservative. You are a conservative comedian."

THIS! THIS SO MUCH!

Right I agree completely. MRA is more about bitching about how unfair life is because of the way women supposedly victimize them or a "Me too" attitude every time a woman's issue is raised.

Exactly. MRAs list off problems affecting men; only they then go on to blame these problems on women. You can help fight homelessness without hating women while you do it.

Since they know so few actual flesh and blood women (as opposed to the kind that turn up on the TV, internet porn, or can be inflated) they tend to generalize way more than they should and don't really have a good starting premise anyway.

It seems like if you care about these issues and want to make a difference, then you're wasting your time with MRM. If, on the other hand, you are a troll of life or have serious issues and want to vent as loudly and publicly as possible about bs, then MRM is the movement for you!

The unfortunate reality is that MRAs don't focus on these issues, but rather focus mostly on issues that are in direct opposition to women. The homeless rate brought up in the article is also a great point, but even that is put as an opposition to women and feminism. I don't know of any feminist who goes around
