I get that impression as well. Hate to default blame parents for their children's actions or attitudes, but his son certainly seems like someone who was raised in a household where having zero respect for women is AOK.

We're working on it, I promis. Gerrymandering has made it harder, but expect Texas to get a little more purple over the next few election cycles.

This is true. I would support some sort of renaming of the act because we need men to feel that it's ok to report abuse and we can start by making it clear that there is support for those who do. The support is there, but they likely don't know that.

+1

Equally? Really?

Yep. It's going to be a tough fight for the biggest asshole title this year. Sigh.

It told them off in a light, joking way, and then proceeded to give them practical advice to help them with nerves and cluelessness. Tough love, my friend, tough love.

Are you referencing a the manga, Death Note?

Not perplexed, just pissed off.

Thanks for posting. There are so many misconceptions, and your statement clarifying the difference between religion and culture is something that someone should say every single time until we start to understand it.

When I started reading your comment, I did not think I would end up agreeing with you, but I like your take on this. I do think we are socialized to over-apologize, but the solution isn't to totally stop and be 100% unapologetic all the time. This is a misleading statement, as, no matter what wingnuts on the right like to shout and how loud they like to shout it, this is in no way a case of the government paying for my birth control. I think the sentence is meant to mean that the government is

Oh. My. God. Why did I not notice this void before?

How about Night Cheescake?

I did actually opt into this at some point, but it used to just work like a regular text message. Recently, it has done the blaring alarm noise, even when my phone was set to silent. One time I had JUST cuddled my cranky, sick, 2 year old to sleep and just as his eyes closed came the blare. .

I know, right? I didn't hear that joke last year, but my first thought was that there was no way someone actually said that. It's just a gay "joke".

It does! I have kids, and I work with kids, and I am not sure at what point I started calling everyone "hon" or "honey" but I didn't notice it at first. Also, I think working with kids is why I say "awesome" a lot.

OK, you might be right. Because otherwise, she's just talking about cheese and stuff?
