We don't have the Cosby Show, A Different World, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, whatever. When I was a kid, I was seeing lots of dark skin on NBC and the like. Not these days. I don't see the need to be "scientific" when addressing absolutely nothing beyond my own perception of the entertainment that dominates the

That sucks. I tried to be careful to say that it can't help everyone. One weird thing that helped my cramps a lot (and it sounds strange, but I swear it had a measurable effect) was an Ayurvedic thing. Only really works if your cycle is pretty regular, but for 10 days before you expect your period, eating 10-20

Yes. I should have specified!

I think that you are right. For me, that would definitely be more what it was about. I do think though, there is something to the idea the designers put forth, but they seem to stuck on it, and don't see the truth of what Rent the Runway is saying, or of what you are saying.

I said this below, in a comment to someone else, but I think if we had more women's stories on television in general, we wouldn't be all piling on this one woman for not telling every woman's story. I want more diversity in entertainment. I want so much more from the world than we get right now, but I don't really

Agreed. I think if Hollywood, television, ENTERTAINMENT, as a whole included a broader range of voices, there wouldn't be so much expectation that this one woman should do that job. It's like there are so few women's stories being told that when we see one, we want that one show or that one woman to include everything

There was a time my life where sometimes I literally could not get out of bed when I had cramps, so this could be a valid, especially if it's the first time she experienced cramps like that. Just couldn't unbend my body from the fetal position. However, she needs to do what I did and get herself to the doctor.

I love that my husband doesn't mind at all, but I wouldn't be offended if he did.

My husband distinguished himself early in our relationship by his complete lack of getting squicked out by anything my body does. If anything, it's me who sometimes is turned off by the idea of the mess. So, sometimes, I don't want to have sex when I'm on my period, and he is understanding about that too, but I love

He said his parents are democrats. Maybe what you're saying is that they are not, in fact, voting against their interests?

Actually, your conservative vote, is, by definition, voting against my interests. You are voting for a party who has stated quite clearly that they want to eliminate abortion, and pass laws against marriage equality. It makes it easier for me that their economic policies are clearly bullshit, but even if they seemed

Just the blonde ones.

I know! I've read a couple of very well articulated arguments along these lines and I never seem to be able to explain it as well. I just want to find someone who put it well and memorize what they said.

I feel like there is much the same argument whenever people of color speak up about their experiences with racism. The right (and sadly, some of the left, but mostly the right) will basically say "well, there's no slavery anymore and there's a black president, so just shut up and be grateful" and they use this idea

Did this make anyone else immediately think of The Rules of Civility? If not, you should read it. It was a good book.

If I had had any idea that Clearly Canadian would disappear, I would have stockpiled cases of the blackberry flavor.

Hee hee "UTERINE CALL OF THE WILD." That is the greatest.

Yuck.

Well, that is really shitty.

Sincere, non-sarcastic question: what are you talking about?
