I worked with hundreds of wolf spiders for two years, and I never got “bit” once. Pinched by a juvenile female’s chelicerae yes, but it didn’t hurt.

That process has a great technical term - lyophilization but alas you probably hear it more commonly as “freeze-drying.” I use one at work to remove moisture from fish tissue I’m going to analyze for contaminants!

As a paperback Sci-Fi devourer at my local library, her novel “Grass,” remains one of my favorite works. I never got around to finding the rest of that trilogy - Arbai was it? But, yeah what a book.
