Is that for all of the boards or just for behind the net? I know some rinks had seamed from hash mark to hash mark (around the goal net) and then seamless on the rink sides. Good to know, I didn't know they changed back; but the original goal I always thought was for more safety.

Get rid of the hard metal poles every 30 feet in the catch fence. The driver pod of Wheldon's car slammed right in to the metal. It wasn't the catch fence, it was the stantions IN the catch fence. Most NHL rinks switched to seamless plexi-glass boards a few years ago for safety and more consistent play.

Agreed. He hit the catch fence from the bottom of the tub, Wheldon hit on the top of the tub. Crazy.

I'm shocked Will Power didn't have worse injuries. ESPN reported he was in the hospital after the crash with multiple leg injuries and body bruising/cuts. He tweeted last night around 10pm so he must be doing much better:
