Nintendo has never done the numbering thing with their system titles. If Wii vs. Wii U is confusing, then so is NES vs. SNES. Except it's not confusing. At all.

I guess when you're a Kotaku editor and get comped tickets, you can just record whatever you want. None of that was allowed when I went in GA.

It's not that hard. Why was it not confusing switching from PS2 to PS3 which have similar names and similar controllers? With Wii U, the gamepad is completely new as is the console. The commercials are fine. But the world continues to get dumber and dumber, so the confusion does not surprise me.

Do people really want to play complicated games like this with touchscreen-only controls?

I fail to see the point. Smartphone games have only become popular because people always have the phone on them anyway, not because the games are anything special. If you're going to own a dedicated mobile gaming device, why not just get a 3DS and have a much better game library available?

I would guess that most people have no idea that the cables can be bought for very little money and instead grab the $100 cable that Best Buy tries to attach to the sale. For those people, seeing the cable included is a big perk.

Skyward Sword was great... it have some of the issues mentioned here easily addressed though simply by eliminating a lot of the hand holding. I can figure out what to do next, I don't need to be told.
