I doubt it. As someone who owns Sims 3 on Steam, it just means that if you bought it on Steam your product will redeem on Origin and if you are lucky - you will be able to launch straight into the game from Steam instead of playing the Texas Two Step of Launching Steam then Origin, then the game.
To be fair it would have turned out better for EA if they had actually done anything with their storefront after launching it. I swear, Steam has seen more changes in the last two years than Origin saw since 2013.
