It used to be that rape victims were blamed for tempting upright men of God and somesuch for dressing in such a fashion that it caused them to rape in the first place. Or having one too many drinks that just overrides rapists primal desires. Or not saying ‘no’ quickly enough.

Yeah do those people think rape victims should thank their rapists for stopping? 

I had that argument awhile back. My response of “Right, but we started it and perpetuated it here in the first place,” was met with something like “YAH BUT WE ENDED IT THO.”

One thing I do quibble with is that you didn’t highlight the fact that it was white people who also ended COINTELPRO.

White is an anti-race... everyone ELSE can be identified and stereotyped by race. Which is ironic considering that the creation of whiteness as an exclusionary club is the origination of race, and thus ‘white’ was the original race.

If they* were truly as colorblind as they claim to be, then there would not be a NEED…

This is a central part of almost all anti-minority sentiments. White people are afraid of being treated the way they treat black people. Straight guys are afraid gay guys will treat them the way they treat women. Etc.

If I were to That Guy this one to death, I guess I could see how “be less white” could be seen as an overly incendiary choice of words for what it’s trying to express, but “Stop fucking centering yourself and your paper-goddamn thin white skin in everything, you dumb fucking crackers” just doesn’t roll off the tongue…

White people sure as hell don’t need to tell Michael Harriot how to talk about white people! There are no white experts on racism because our whiteness prevents us from seeing it clearly.

To be fair the person saying “Be Less White” is Dr. Robin DiAngelo who wrote the book “White Fragility” and as a white person was telling them to be less white as a way to lessen harm to POC. I actually went through that video series before it got taken down. The be less white part was literally like 2 minutes of a 50…

Oh yeah this stuff has been around without ever saying it. Hair, Names, Clothes, Tattoos, acting a *certain* way, etc. Basically anything that wasnt White, Straight, Clean cut, Christian, and I’ll throw Male in there too was deemed not “acting appropriately”

Reports are he wasn’t on anything. Just driving recklessly fast on a curved mountain road.
