I agree... the Gurney Eagle V-12 F1 tops the list of most beautiful race cars, no question.

It could be a Type 18 "Garros", but since they only built 6 or 7 of them, I think it would be worth more than $400 thou. I still think it is a "Brescia" model Type 22 or a Type 23 that was converted to Brescia specs... shortened chassis and body work. (That's been done on a number of Type 23 Touring cars over the

Perhaps it was a "typo", but the car in the video is not a Type 35. It is a Type 23, also known as a "Brescia". If it was a T35 it would be worth somewhere north of a million, providing it was real and not a "bitser".

My friend is a Bugatti restorer and quite knowledgeable about everything Bugatti. He restored the Williamson T57 Atlantic coupe that is now in the Mullin Museum and Jay Leno's Type 37 GP Bugatti. So, I trust him that the story is true. No, doubt it's probably written up somewhere in a Bugatti book.

The closest I have come to driving an Atlantic coupe was this "one-off" Dubois coupe , once owned by a friend of mine. It built on a Type 51 GP chassis back in the 1930's. The car was slightly uncomfortable, very very noisy and with a clutch pedal that was like a toggle switch. Oh yea... the 4-speed shift pattern is

According to the Bugatti "anoraks" there was actually 3 Atlantic coupes, plus the Aerolithe built. The third coupe seems to have ben involved in a disputed "right of way" with a train and lost. It was just so much scrap metal. Rumor has it that a few bits and pieces of the third coupe have been found and that a

From one of my Bugatti friends, I heard this story about Ralph Lauren's T57. In 1968 it was owned by a Bugatti collector in England named Barrie Price. He drove it from London to Paris on his way to a Bugatti Club rallye in the Alsace region of France. Driving through Paris, he drove straight into the riots between

Has anyone heard of a Bugatti Veyron torching itself? I read that they have something like 9 or 10 radiators and coolers, so maybe they are less prone to spontaneous combustion. Just curious.

... and too tall.

This is probably "nit-picking", but, the race commentators made a big deal about the Mercedes "Silver Arrows" not having won the Monaco GP before. I guess they forgot about 1935,1936 and 1937.

It appears to be a 1967 Ferrari 330P4, but, something about it doesn't look quite right. The wheels are wrong. It could be a replica made by Noble in the UK back in the 1980's or so. They were very good replicas, but, still not a 330P4. That's my guess.

I'm fairly sure that it is a very "loose" interpretation of the early '50's Ferrari 500. A Formula 2 car, but, it ran as a Formula 1 car then as the formula was for 2 Liters. It was a twin-cam four cylinder. When the Formula was changed to 2.5 liters, the Maserati 250F and the MB W-196 came along. The Ferrari was then

So far, no one has mentioned Clermont-Ferrand, very scenic and difficult and sometimes used for the French GP in the 1960's

The ending of the film shows that he was not trying to outrun the old sedan. He was looking for a chance to set the guy up and nab him. Presumably for a large reward.

Congratulations to the author of this article. I worked on the Maxton project from the very beginning with my good friend Bob Sutherland and this article is perhaps the only one that actually got all the facts right.

Is anyone really surprised by this? We can always count on the avarice and vulgar rapaciousness of government officials. There is no such thing as having" enough money" for them. They can always find ways to spend it.

Lotus Elan Sprint from the early Seventies. Enough said.

1600 pound curb weight is going to be a really tough target to hit. That's only 20 pounds more than the Lotus Elan S4 that I owned a few years ago. Sure Carbon Fiber is stronger and lighter than Fiberglass... but, still.... good luck with that. I'm thinking it's going to be closer to 2000 pounds, especially if it's

A number of years ago, a wealthy friend of mine imported about a dozen RS200 Group B rallye cars (610hp "Evo" versions) into the US as collector cars. On one trip to England, Ford Motorsport GB lent us a Sierra Cosworth RS500 for a week. Back then it was an amazing car. 224 HP and almost no turbo lag. At about

The 5.5M Bugatti is a JOKE!! It's the worst kind of VW based kit car. It's worth maybe $500.
