The camera controlled too much like an early 3D game, like before they knew how camera controls should work. Over time we figured that out, and the solution wasn't "middle view or high view."
MH played fine with one Analog on the PSP for years, and, as someone now determined to get through it after years of owning it, the right analog camera control for MH3 on the Wii was kind of terrible.
