I thought you should know that some white girl really did just say white privilege is more of a USA thing than in the UK.

No. That's exactly the point because they are criminals. You'll never see a show like Friday Night Lights w/a majority black cast.

Right. If you can't see that I'm talking about white people in the sense of a economic, social, and cultural oppressive class, then guess what, you're a shit ally. Also live by Black Proverb: That ain't got nothin to do with me.

thank you for coming and effectively snatching that wig. I saw that comment and i was like, girl bye.

what?

I hear what you are saying and you are right, ideally its not a zero sum game. But it's been my experience working in activist spaces that you are more like to convince a rich person of the humanity of animals than of actual people and that is a problem.

It never ceases to amaze me that people will prioritize their dog's needs, spend dumb money on bpa free dog bowls and organic dog food, but cannot muster any fucks for kids going without food, shitty public schools, and lack of affordable housing for the poor. I just... whoo.

Preach the gospel truth. Let em' know.

For all the white people in this thread going, "not all white people are like that" "I am a white person and I don't think you ...." This is for you.

I honestly believe white folks know blackface is wrong, they just don't give a fuck. Even here on gawker and Jez White people try time and again to try to qualify it or explain why there is a difference between their blackface and blackface of old. They always go "Well if I am just trying to portray a character, how

BWHAHAHAHA Girl Bye. If you're looking for a clothed pop star the closest you're going to get is Beyonce.

Dude. Epps and his wife? FUCK THEM SO HARD IN THE ASS WITH A CHAINSAW. I mean fuck all the white people in the movie, but you get what I'm saying.

If you go to the party website. The points that I listed are there and are spelled out in no uncertain terms. So Girl bye.

Patsey's whipping scene is probably about five minutes. Her actual whipping is only a minute and 30 seconds, plus they give you and entrance to it. The things that were more jarring was the violence in a scene where you didn't think there was going to be any. It's also towards the end of the film.

You should see it. I can tell you that there are some scenes that are like, fuck yeah! And I think it's good to see because of the attention that they give to black women's experience during slavery. Even though the story is centered around the man, they do spend a significant amount of time showing how black women

OMG I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW! I laugh everytime. I really liked the film. It was classic Steve McQueen. He really captured the way that humanity of all the slaves which, i don't think I have ever truly seen a film about American slavery do. The writing was also impeccable, which I didn't think the guy who wrote red tails

I saw it w/ a friend and at minute five we had to start cracking jokes or else we weren't going to make it. And when they introduce Michael Fassbender and Sarah Paulson's characters you're just going to be like.

I think what made this movie different for me was anyone can show images of black people being brutalized. In fact this happens often enough to the point that I think it just ends up widening the racial empathy gap and in part white people become desensitized to black pain. What made it different was McQueen showed

I was in NY this past weekend so I went to see 12 years a slave. whoa. I have seen alot of slavery movies but this is the first one where I had to fight vomiting instead of just plain crying. If you've seen it let's talk because there is so much I still need to talk and process about it.

I mean they are never going to say WATCH OUT FOR THOSE DARKIES! But there were always letters from corporate that go something like this.
