You’re thinking of the XC-142 possibly?

Hey, this is what he’s referring to as “wedgey”:

Yeah, but it’s ugly.

Yup. Okay, so now where is that deicing circuit switch lead?

I disagree. Watch some of the high-end assembly line videos in Germany. Fewer humans are ending up being pushed farther and farther down the line as robots take over an increasing share of assembly. First it was welding, then paint, and now doors, glass and interior.

You think car people are bad?  Try motorcycles.  God forbid you ride a Harley Davidson product.

Obviously you’re not familiar with MB’s Speedshift MCT. Automatic with a wet clutch.

One prototype that did go nuclear was the N.S. Savannah.

They simply shut off the bleed air/ACM packs for the offending engine and continue on.  The aircraft can maintain pressurization on one engine’s bleed air.  No biggy.

Pffft.  How soon we all forget the Big Bunny:

Probably the only known exception to that advice was American painting all their previously polished airframes.  I can’t imagine how much labor it took to keep all those aircraft shiny.

Beechcraft’s ill-fated yet beautiful Starship had restrictions on where dark paint could be applied to the all CF fuselage and wings. Any upper-half surface was verboten.

I inherited a 1979 Spit when I married. Knew I had the right girl when she showed up in a Carmine Red with tan interior and Laycock de Normanville (I love that fancy name for a gearbox) overdrive in 3rd and 4th. Kept it for 70K miles and drove it up and down the 10 freeway to downtown LA daily. Never missed a beat. Of

One word: Automation.

Oh puhleeze. Some crotch rocket wound out to 15K with a “racing” exhaust is just as annoying as some straight-piped V-Twin.  Somehow if it’s not a Harley, it’s more “noble” and in no way reflects some weird pecker compensation need all aftermarket exhausts satisfy.

Everybody is forgetting “Massive Automation”. YouTube is full of videos detailing car manufacturing without a human being in the scene for several minutes. Just robots doing a far more precise job assembling cars. UAW and their members obviously know what the future holds and negotiations are mostly “Please don’t

Speaking of the old days, remember mobile analog cellular? Motorola brick back in the trunk and a handset up front yielded 3 watts. Little, tiny 5 inch stub antenna on the rear window. Hell, you could reach Mars with those things back then.

Pretty certain Bentley Azure and its variants (coupe, convertible) had them up to 2011.

Yeah, but they’re still cashing checks on nuke tests. We fire off a dud Minutemen from Vandenberg AFB every so often aimed at Kwajalein. ICBM interceptor tests as well:

Folks mistakenly associate the Richland Bombers with the atomic bomb whose plutonium was first produced nearby in the Hanford Reservation. The team is actually named after a B-17, IIRC.
