This. The level of ‘remastering’ the game will get is what goes into a next gen patch. Witcher 3 came out 2 years prior and it is getting a free next gen patch.

They shipped a product they KNEW didn’t work. They purposely prevented reviewers from seeing X1/ps4 footage despite those being the consoles it was announced for. They also said the last gen versions ran ‘surprisingly well’.

Apparently it is trivially easy to turn a series S console into an emulation box. It can run basically everything up to ps2 with little trouble.

IIRC that was the plan all along. When it was unveiled Phil mentioned that microsoft expect series S sales to eventually account for the majority of xbox sales, as much of the mas market doesn’t really care about 120fps and ay tracing and will just want a small, affordable box to play games on.
