An astounding growth which is predominantly composed of mobile games and FTP titles.

I love how people in the industry can tell you a thing, people who report on the industry can tell you a thing and you blithely discount it simply because it doens’t fit your agenda. Read the room. Everyone who knows what they are

*SOME* games sell better than ever before.
Many don’t. And that still doesn’t mean they sell enough. Not every game is GTA.

Then don’t play those games, and stop bitching about games that don’t do that.

I’m getting sickof the “no emtee ex! evar! wryyyyyyyyyyy!!” chorus that never, ever, EVER provide a realistic alternative.

Considering resolutiongate was an actual thing, that is also not an option.

No, you don’t understand. He just wants a complete game, with new features being added with each release, in perfect 4k60, with robust post launch support and all of it for less than half of what a game cost over a decade ago.

If you are so obtuse that understanding the relation between numbers is lost on you, I doubt there’s anything anyone could say that you wouldn’t emotionally disregard in a huff.

I love how I’m talking about a game without loot boxes and you keep bringin it back to loot boxes. It’s like you know your argument cant stand without an emotional appeal.

“Very close”

“I’ll argue that Fahrenheit is the superior temperature measurement system”

HOW?

Except as this very article has pointed out, yeah they are. Games have never been cheaper to buy nor more expensive to make. They need to take in more revenue to make up that difference. The simplest way is post launch support which keeps the game alive longer and encourages more sales. Of course more maps packs costs

At least he’s better than the Scapelli Construction Company.

And this, children, is why you complain when major corporations screw up.

I had to dumb it down so you’d understand. Sadly it seems I didn’t go far enough.

No, paid cosmetics do not do that. They don’t detract from it either, as they only affect multiplayer. What they DO do, is subsidize post launch support. Which makes the game last longer, which helps it sell more which lets the company that makes it make money which lets them pay the people who make is a stronger

The money conversation is one that people desperately need to have. So many gamers seem to lose a good 50 IQ points when money enters the picture.

And like that you demonstrate my argument. Your first point calls it a console, but by the end you’ll be calling it a handheld.

Most aspects of the switch are a ripoff when you get down to it. It’s like it exists in a kind of superposition where it is either a home console or a handheld and which one it is changes based on what crappy behaviour nintendo is trying to justify.

If people are really serious about getting people to not smoke, change all tobacco products to vape pens. Because nobody on earth can use a vape pen without looking like the biggest loser ever.

That this is a minor controversy just makes me want to burn everything. But then again I also am in the middle of a conversation with a guy who is adamant that gears should be charging for map packs instead of giving us free maps and subsidizing them with cosmetics.
