Man, so many people throwing tantrums because the next star wars doesn’t look like it will resemble their fanfics. I for one really like how jj abrams appears to be subverting our expectations of what it will be.

It was evident. Hire a guy famous for starting things without planning them out to start things. Hire another guy who fancies himself an auteur to do the middle and let him disregard the setups of the previous film.

You joke, but star wars movies aimed at adults would make SO much money. The kids who grew up with the prequels are adults now. There’s huge potential audience for that kind of thing.

They really pared down the gags in season 2. The first season was a tonal mess where it would be trying to be dramatic but also cracking family guy style jokes.

Season 2 is much less consciously trying to be funny. Ironically it has the effect of making the jokes that remain significantly better.

The downside of this is that you can easily read the horde as the good guys. On one side you have a racial/gender neutral meritocracy that actively tried to prevent wasting the lives of their own citizens.

It’s really fun to watch the first season and see how everyone has changed. S1 holt would never been that sassy in the workplace.
