I don't know how you guys do it! My sister works in a similar field and when she had her second kid, she had to go part-time which meant going from like 70 hours/week to just under 40. And it did stall her career.

Yeah, 10 minutes with your kid a night sucks for the whole family. Hopefully you'll find a better situation this summer. I work for a local government in a union position so I'm out the door by 4:30 everyday, and if I work late, I get overtime pay in return. But Michigan just became Right to Work (today!) so who

Damn!

I hear ya on that.

Exactly! We're doing alright, if it makes us unambitious in their eyes, so be it!

I don't know, it's crazy. It's not a unionized position, so I believe he is "at-will" as someone else mentioned. He called his boss on the "threat" and the guy backtracked and tried to explain that he meant something else, but still. What crap.

Ditto to the other comments, I got out of a very expensive destination bachelorette weekend by having a baby. My best friend and fellow bridesmaid wasn't so lucky.

I agree. My husband deals with this crap at work since becoming a father. We both work full-time and both want to be home with our daughter as much as possible. His boss doesn't understand (like, at all) that he might not want to work 12-15 hours a day so he can someday make management level. He already works a

Sounds familiar. I remember reading a part about his mother, someone (Robert Baratheon?) remembering Ned and some chick and how Ned ended up with a baby...it's been a long time though. Like I said, I need to reread the books.

Word. I pretty much only use the internet at work because if I get on the computer at home, my kid gets in the way. I mean, I do my work here too, but I don't use the computer at home much anymore.

I must wholeheartedly agree. Especially where you say "They don't want women in the design room or the shop because we might get offended when they say sexist shit, and to them, the problem there is with us, not with the things they are saying."

Wait a minute.... People argue against telling men that rape is wrong?

Thank you, (as I replied to another poster) I read the series on maternity leave when I was not sleeping much and was often distracted. I appreciate the reply!

Thanks for the reply! I started reading the series on maternity leave when I wasn't sleeping much so my memory is foggy.

I need to reread the books because I thought Jon was Neds bastard son with some random woman, the end. When does GRRM allude to that not being the case? Maybe I missed it when I just glossed through a few chapters to get back to the chapter on whatever character I found most interesting at the time.

dammit me too!

It was weird for the first few months to see the numbers on the scale going up and wrapping my head around the fact that that was a good thing. And it sucks when you're in that in between stage where you just look fat, not pregnant. And your regular clothes don't fit but your not big enough for maternity stuff.

You boss sounds great. I used to cashier at a small grocery store and we'd unlock the exit doors to let morning employees in. The early bird customers who were in the parking lot at 8:30 would try and sneak in all the time when they'd see us coming into work. Sometimes they'd start shopping if we didn't see them

Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to learn all I can about VBAC's before I get pregnant again. Part of me is afraid to attempt VBAC next time because ya know, I already had a c-section, I survived, its not scary anymore. But I've never had to push a baby out, and that unknown is still scary. And the term "uterine

I voted this afternoon in Michigan. My polling place is an elementary school near my house which serves 3 precincts and mine had the shortest line (score!) less than 10 minutes. The people working the polls were all senior citizens and they seemed very confused and disorganized which is concerning, but nothing bad
