I'm happy with it. My current one is a 970 Extreme3 ($85). I got it because first of all it wasn't too expensive, spaceous and it had AM3+ support if I want to get rid of my Phenom II some day. So far I'm very satisfied with it. No more BIOS, and UEFI+SSD is a fast boot and it works well.
But the only one I even slightly fits into is Internet Geek.
When I made the switch to a sound card I was running an Asus mATX motherboard (M4N68T-M V2 if it's relevant) with a Realtek on-board sound. Then there was a noticeable difference.
