Your numbers are off... It’s more like 1% are capable of driving fast in poor conditions and I think even that’s too high a percentage.

In areas where thefts are common most of these guys know how to drive stick.

“Crappy” cars aren’t any more low tech than expensive cars in all the areas that matter. Cheap cars like the Corolla and Civic are popular targets because of parts commonality and how prevalent they are, not because they’re inherently easy to steal.

That comparison is not analogous. The demographic buying a car like a Supra is more likely to be aware of its origins. Even then, I wouldn’t be surprised if a significant subset of buyers are unaware of anything beyond the fact that the car is fast and looks cool.

This is the automotive equivalent of taking your pants off to fart.

While these designs aren’t bad, they’re extremely derivative. The SUV looks like it’s trying to evoke Audi, with a bit of Lincoln in there. The headlights are pure BMW. The sedan/coupe thing is a Porsche-Tesla hybrid.

No, it’s not cool. It’s an embarrassment because it indicates some fundamental issues with their assembly and QC process. Their situation is likely similar to the shitshow we’ve heard about with GM when they were trying to get that NUMMI plant off the ground.

Those people comprise a vanishingly small subset of the total workforce. In productive terms, they contribute nothing to the larger economy. They’re certainly not doing the kind of R&D that Porsche themselves do, which improves overall automotive technology. Everything Singer is focused on making toys for the wealthy.

It’s ironic that someone would spend $1,500 to pair this with a trash speaker setup. The unfortunate reality is that the people who typically bother swapping out in-car audio equipment will install a massively overpowered subwoofer and set treble to be painfully bright.

Too bad the game is a horrible mess because aesthetically it looks fantastic.

Some automakers have gotten pretty good at focusing on the superficial aspects that earn praise from the press and impress consumers during the test drive. People mistakenly assume that because the touch points are nice that the rest of the car is also quality.

Ford sucks. In a display of reactive stupidity, they abandon small cars and sedans, gifting that market to Japanese and Korean competitors. They go all-in on trucks and SUVs, but then rush new models and produce new cars that exude cost-cutting and disposability. I can’t wait to see what kind of shitshow the Mach E

The Mach E is pretty ugly if you ask me. Seems like they wanted an overall feel akin to Tesla. While I think Tesla’s designs are slightly overrated and the Model S is getting stale, at least the they’re cohesive and have presence. The Mach E is a blob with discordant Mustang elements forced onto the design.

I wouldn’t call it attending so much as passing through... It’s also not so much a meet as it is assholes congregating in a McDonald’s parking lot and being obnoxious. The mix of cars is consistent with what you’d expect from this crowd: Civics, Infiniti G35s, WRXs, Nissan Zs, Mustangs, Chargers and Challengers. Every

A Chinese friend of mine once made an interesting observation about our respective governments. The US government argues endlessly about proposals whereas the Chinese are decisive. China, for example, wouldn’t have balked at Amazon looking for incentives to build a new HQ. From their perspective it’s all in support

What’s satisfying about debadging a car? To me, it falls under the same category as black wheels on a black car, smoked taillights, and colored LEDs up front: it makes the car look low rent. It will even turn a luxury car into hot garbage. Bonus points if the debadging leaves behind to alignment holes.

I’m amused by all the people choosing German cars, like they aren’t going to regret that decision within 5-10 years. If you’re talking lifetime ownership then reliability is mandatory. To that end, I’d probably choose a Corolla with a manual. If I had to choose something more upmarket, the Lexus LC wouldn’t be a bad

What do you mean “how it used to be”? Do you mean back when civilizations were less developed and a significant proportion of humanity lived as nomadic tribes? Even the Romans imposed restrictions on the movement of people. Chinese dynasties and medieval European kingdoms did the same.

To be fair, the same thing happens with Civics and Corollas. The big difference is that those dealers usually can’t be bothered to special order a car.

That’s because BMW somehow managed to make an electric car unreliable.
