This concept feels unfinished; like it was designed by students who are too impatient and inexperienced to refine and iterate, having gone with the first idea that popped into their heads. The lighting design feels like an afterthought and the roundel brake lights and grille pattern are especially cheesy.

I’m not sure where you have the idea that the G80 and G90 are doing well. They’re both selling poorly and sales haven’t gone above the hundreds since April of 2018. If I’m not mistaken Hyundai has been offering significant discounts in an attempt to move some cars.

When I first saw the BX as a kid I fell in love with the car. It wasn’t just the styling that looked futuristic, but the hydropneumatic suspension raising and lowing the car... If I had known this variant existed I don’t know what I’d have done with myself.

There are a ton of reasons, ranging from an this being an engineering exercise to higher displacement, larger motors being heavily taxed. Even 2 liters is on the big side for Europe, so this engine is more akin to a V8 for Americans.

Turbo engines have trouble meeting their estimates in the real world. Not that the problem is unique to turbos, they’re just more likely to see a big drop.

Most cars would fare better if the headlights were adjusted beforehand but the IIHS tests cars as they come from automakers. Their rationale, which is fair, is that most consumers aren’t calibrating headlights.

Now that even plebs can get displays in their cars, the luxury automakers are desperate to up their game.

I feel sorry for Acura. This was really the wrong car at the wrong time. It always makes me think of the Audi R8 in that it seems like it represented something similar to the brand but was executed in completely the wrong way.

It’s a neat design and I like that the car isn’t overly aggressive. That said, from some angles those LEDs look like eyelashes and it gives the car a bit of a cutesy aesthetic.

A good reason to get the Civic Sport is to avoid the oil dilution issues of the 1.5L turbo. Crazy to think that this is normally the kind of thing you worry about with VW.

Does this mean that when some tool is tailgating, forgets his brakes are set to sport, and panic brakes he’s going cause an accident?

Other than the odd mismatched rear glass panel the Subaru looks far better than that Golf wagon. The Levorg is conservative but interesting. The Golf is the epitome of blandness. This is one of those odd designs that, while inoffensive, is going to look cheaper the older it gets.

Automation and outsourcing buys a lot of nice stuff.

Outside of professionals who undertake specialized heists, thieves are quite stupid. Even ignoring risk, the profit margins are minuscule. Stolen goods get pennies on the dollar and it’s not like these guys can do this sort of thing on a daily basis.

I still think this is one of the best looking Infinitis ever made. It’s a clear evolution of 80s Japanese styling. Almost everything from Infiniti since has been an over-styled blob with the exception of the new Q60 which looks quite nice.

I’ve had the manual Corolla Hatchback for 6 months and I have been quite happy with it. It replaced a 12-year-old Audi A3 which I very much enjoyed. In terms of driving pleasure, however, I’d say they’re about equal. Beyond that, while there are positives and negatives, the Corolla is fun regardless.

I’ve worked with guys like these over the years, some of them are legitimate entrepreneurs and some of them are poseurs. Regardless, the prevailing mindset is that it’s better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Except that most of these guys don’t engage in any introspection whatsoever so there’s

First of all, the average price of a car is irrelevant because there are plenty of cars in the $20k range. Many of those cars are legitimately great. Unfortunately, for superficial, materialistic Americans, the car defines the individual.

The problem with America culture is that consumers believe that their purchase decisions define whether or not they’re boring. The new Blazer is a pathetic attempt to capitalize on that mindset by leveraging some styling tweaks and a whole pile of marketing.

Sounds like management is no longer confident in their grand new plan. Someone must have realized that the Japanese and Koreans were going to mop the floor with them. Now they’re trying to paper over their bumbling by claiming bullshit about being nimble.
