I don't think you quite understand just how utterly insane the Group B cars were. Just to give you an idea, the Peugeot 205 T16 Group B car was put onto the Estoril Grand Prix Circuit in 1986. The lap time that was set was fast enough for fifth place on the grid for that year's F1 race.

Pikes Peak is not the same race now that it's paved all the way. Pikes Peak on dirt was epic (and I hate the overuse of that word). Rod Millen said that paving the road all the way would change the race forever; and it has.

Nobody uses PSIs outside of the US. The bar is based on the metric system and makes sense for the order of magnitude encountered here.
