What usually kills these is the Twin Cam 3.4 V6, it needs timing belts changed every 60K, the motor wont crash if they break, but the belt replacement is pain in the ass and then some.

You might not be looking in the right place, there have been at least 2 of these on ebay in the last month, Lagunas, not regular Chevelles, and there are at least 3 or 4 regular colonade Chevelles on ebay right now.
