That's old news.

Poison arrows: Yes, absolutely. Very useful for cheesing and making certain situations a lot less threatening.

Aye, and the list goes on!

Heh. Yeah, my first experience with a smart phone saw me move the bed to get better reception while dozing off. I have since moved on to an Android tablet and I'm loving it. Apart from requiring three power supplies, that is. But, hey, that's modern technology for you - one giant step and a bit of a leap forward,

Hey. I feel the need to relativise a bit. I'm not happy about being a bit unfair towards Dark Souls 2. It has offered me some 500 hours of enjoyment, through repetition and what I perceive to be improved multiplayer. I also still enjoy pointlessly wandering through the world, enjoying the nice visuals where available

I'm mainly rolling rogue with parry/riposte/backstab. DS2 made me change my ways and abandon my first character about halfway through the first playthrough, when poison also turned out to be pretty futile. All that work and time and hope and expectation - for it to just plain suck. It's just no fun.

I'm on a break from DS2.

I'm still very wary of it.

Bear in mind that 5GHz is generally less compromised, but has more trouble getting through walls/floors and has a significantly shorter range. I'm running a setup that's 80%-90% 802.11g, since the walls/floors are killing the 802.11n performance in my specific situation. When I'm sitting in the same room as the N66U,

Home user documentation generally just goes for the one-solution-fits-all approach. Like Mr. Apple's recommendations, it's bound to give mediocre-to-decent results for most situations.

Get power lead/patch cable, get AP closer to the center of the apartment, win.

If your signal is weak, reduce interferences (wireless phones, microwave ovens, car alarms, bluetooth that's always on but never used, gamepad controllers, computer mice, ...) in place the device in a sensible manner. Even with a very basic device you will have a sweet spot/range.

Think doughnut hovering around the (omni-directional) antenna. Big doughnut. Hmmmm.

Not good. But you can still tweak it somewhat by placing the device in a sensible manner.

Mine are all measured out and placed to give the best performance already. Both the manufacturer recommended \|/ and the Apple-dude promoted _|(/) are but generalizations that may or may not work for you, giving you a mediocre result, which is only so much better than a random crap result.

Get Wifi Analyzer or similar, potty train your OCD and focus on signal strength, not the looks of the antennas. They are tools that need to provide one specific function, put a bunch of flowers in front if the looks bother you.

Aye, but that's just the one-setup-fits-all middle ground. In practice, it has proven to give but mediocre results in 3D meatspace, both in flats and multi-storey houses.

Depends on where you put the N66U "Black Knight" (love the name, love the device!) in your home, what walls you want penetrate, what client devices you use and where those client devices are used.

Fear not, it'll pass.
