I know. People at work were asking me why I was crying in the break room.

Nearest Green was never credited or compensated for his role in establishingJack Daniel’s iconic brand
Appropriation is bullshit and should be called out, and I’m hardly inclined to defend someone like Dr. Luke or Katy Perry, but some of these recent copyright rulings are basically pushing the idea that someone can own very basic, simply music ideas and styles that aren’t at all creatively unique.
I’m gonna go adopt 5 cats just to spite you
Awww. Somebody needs a hug.
i’m a docent at the edward gorey house museum. he always had 6-7 cats around & they had free reign around the house. one time, he spent 2 weeks on a detailed illustration only to have it ruined when one of his kitties jump up on his desk & knock over an ink well all over it.
Same. I paid more to watch the fancy 70mm version of it at some classic New York movie theater during a vacation there and all I could think was “What the heck am I doing here?”.
I just saw a preview for this in the theater and I had no idea then what the point of the movie was. After reading this I’m 100% sure there is no real story, only a means for Quentin Tarantino to use some naughty words, parade women around like trophies, and let all the men do all the work and talking. HARD PASS.
I can’t stand his movies. When they aren’t too violent, they’re just boring.
This was delightfully vicious and I am HERE FOR IT.
I used to love Tarantino movies and generally gave him a pass despite the creepiness because it felt “all in good fun”. And then I read about this: https://www.businessinsider.com/quentin-tarantino-defends-choking-and-spitting-on-uma-thurman-during-filming-2018-2
At the risk of outing myself as having terrible taste in film, does anyone else find most of his work unwatchable? I’ve just never understood the appeal of such a high violence to plot ratio and it’s really off-putting to me.
I watched it. I’ll probably watch more of it this afternoon. I feel like it’s a “this is not normal” moment. It’s not that I think there’s going to be any dramatic moments or a groundswell of public support for impeachment. Most people don’t care and anyone who does care has already made up their mind. But, having a…
The Democrats are trying to get the public to hear the content of the report - and doing an AWFUL job of it. Their shtick of asking a question then reading passages just forces the viewer’s eyes to glaze over; even Mueller looked like he was suppressing a yawn all morning.
Oh but there was a much better answer later
Another position (which is the one I run into with my Trump-voting female coworker) is that they stay willfully ignorant of the news. They act like the current political climate is just “so toxic” and “so complicated” and so irrelevant to their actual lives that they can’t even bother to care. So when asked about…
That is extremely fucking depressing but also not at all surprising. God, I hope we get a viable candidate this time around.
This.
The fact that they are TERRIFIED that they no longer matter is the entire point of Donald-fucking-Trump. So yes, we need to stop arguing and cajoling and attempting to reason with these people and find ways to win in spite of them.
This will never stop being infuriating to me, and because now they feel “attacked” (largest eye-roll in history) I won’t be surprised if that fucked up 53% figure will end up being even higher next year. We have to do better, but I haven’t found a solid way to reach any of these women, even in my own family. The two…
