How to enjoy American style coffee overseas:
Easy. Find some finely ground dirt, dry it to a powder, and mix with lukewarm water. Add a shit-ton of cream and sugar.
I disagree as well. All my music I have set as an alarm, I still enjoy to this day.
I disagree. Even back in the ’80s (yes, I’m old), each night I’d drop a favorite cassette into my boombox, press the Play button, and wait for the timer to activate it at 7:30 the next morning. Then CD players, then networked music players. Every time I’ve done a bad job of waking up, the music has still been the good…
Duolingo - partway through the year I committed to studying Japanese and practicing every day has made a huge difference! I actually went to Japan this year and while it was by no means easy I loved when I understood things! And since I came back the learning has gotten easier. Even just 20mins a day can make a…
I do realize that we live in a society where we can find out what’s going on anywhere damn near instantaneously and we can find out oh so much within a few keystrokes or there’s an app that can tell you anything you want to know at any interval of your choosing so that may factor into what I’m feeling....fear.
The best book I read this year, by a fair amount, was James Forman’s Locking Up Our Own. Not an exaggeration to say that I think time will show it to be one of the most important books on criminal justice of the decade (maybe the most important?).
I’m with Barry. Loved His Dark Materials when I was in middle school. Reread the trilogy last year and it was even better as an adult. I have a super religious cousin who read the books years ago and ended up burning them after. That just made me love them even more.
My husband and I solved this by not giving gifts to each other. Now we pick one thing that we both want and buy it together. It might be a new television, or kitchen appliance. It’s something that we will both use and enjoy. That way we both get something we really want and everyone is happy. It’s cheaper that way too.
Are you paid in rubles or dollars?
I’d rather be called subjective names like “asshole” than be objectively closed-minded and ignorant of the origins of tipping and how societal expectations of tipping is money-shaming schmucks like you into paying for nothing.
I hate to be that person, but maybe instead of suggesting that people revert to old habits, push the industry to evolve instead?
I can understand most of these but why would I tip elevator operators or doormen? I’d be more than happy to open my own door and press my own button on the elevator.
It’s ironic that the end of people carrying cash largely put an end to that particular crime. As long as you’re not wearing expensive jewelry, there’s just no point in a mugger even making the attempt, and if you’re in a place where people are wearing expensive jewelry, there are probably cops all over the bloody shop.
I think it’s reasonable to assume that, as this has probably never been done before, it took her some time to come up with it.
We can forward to Hillary as long as it makes you feel better about Moore’s loss.
Oh weird how I didn’t notice this article included all examples ever recorded of people being sore losers. Wait what’s that? It only focuses on last night’s election in Alabama to illustrate the point? It DOESN’T bring up the 2016 election at any point? Oh my bad.
There will be rivers. But the only fish in those rivers will be mutated and/or poisonous.
In fairness to Zinke, that’s not a skill he’ll need in 10-12 years, when there are no more rivers.
