Last week I tried Procion dyes and let me tell you, I'm never going back to Rit again. The colors were great and I didn't have to use hot water. You do need soda ash, but it will be available in the same store you buy the dye.

Oh man, most of my friends are conservative Catholics, and let me tell you, when I swear in front of them, which I only do in EXTREME cases and never in front of children, they give me the "mother" look. And then they just let it go because I am that way and they like me anyway :)
