There was an opening crawl and encroaching Star Destroyer in the opening shot represented by the planet’s shadow playing on the rings system. Brilliant cinematography.

What is the tech like for the ship? Was it a magic gravity generator or centripetal force? What was the propulsion and how far are they traveling?

The effects where amazing and if they lied and said it was Bill Nighy as Tarkin and Fisher’s daughter playing Leia people wouldn’t have batted and eye to the effect.

Everyone I know that wasn’t familiar with Tarkin didn’t know he was a CG character until told after the movie. Everyone knows who Leia is so the uncanny valley is harder to overcome.
