Nah, TOM 1.0 walked during the intro all the time. The big deal was the fact that TOM 2.0 was unveiled as part of an actual storyline rather than just appearing out of nowhere, and coming into existence out of necessity because TOM 1.0 fucking DIED.

I really enjoyed the multiplayer in TLOU but I agree.  They’re making a single player experience and if that means they get to devote 100% of their time to making a game that is a perfect as possible then multiplayer is not needed.

we really need more games like this with a really solid solo and no useless multiplayer, we have so many multiplayer-focused games already anyway

I love when people try and describe Death Stranding in a negative way like this. It always unintentionally comes out sounding awesomely weird and unique, and I love that no amount of verbal gymnastics can change that.

People say they want innovation but when that actually happens they just go “eh gears of war will do.” personally as a lifelong MGS fan and general cynic of big budget fare, I’m stoked. Plenty of multiplayer battle royales out there for others already.

Based on what I saw at PAX West, Death Stranding’s Achilles heel is its focus on babies and women/motherhood. Two topics that Kojima doesn’t have a good track record with. Before anyone says it, he managed it once with The Boss in MGS3, and has failed pretty badly outside of that.
