I love this article so much I'd marry it if I could. Since becoming a mom almost three years ago exactly I've learned to dislike way too many parents and all of the advise books, blogs, websites ad NAUSEUM.

No longer a fan. After her piece in the Times about how adult fans of the Harry Potter novels (like me) are basically mouth breathing halfwits I lost a lot of respect for her. The assumption that it's the only thing the adult fans read and that we dare enjoy it was so condescending I vowed never to sully her good

Usually "the girls" or, since you can't go wrong with the classics, "ta-tas".

@MadEye: I was explaining the "etiquette" of the word to a non native English speaking friend; and I told her that most women loathe the word and using it to describe another woman or saying it to her was basically one of the worst insults. But this woman is such a smug, hypocritical, nasty person I'm surprised

@MadEye: I certainly have no problem with it. And I loathe that word. I just loathe Dr. Laura more.

Aww, the Manchurian Catidate!

Understatement of the day: "She buggin."

@beezelbubbles: Thank you! I love my almost 3 year old more than anything, but sometimes Mommy wants to go to the nice bar up the street for a brunch, some grownup conversation and some tasty adult beverages. I don't think it is unreasonable for people to want some places to be child free.

"Mostly I'm just like 'Huh? What?' And then I look like I'm an airhead because I'm not engaging in stuff that

@silkyjumbo: I knew there had to be an upside of living in a walkup!

@BeetsGoOn: As I was typing the first part it seemed so gossipy I couldn't resist a little homage to Ferris Bueller in there.

@bye june: Interesting, because my industry friends who know him swear he's not and one female who's had the pleasure of his "company" says he's amaaazing in bed.

I really hope he bought one in each color it comes in. I always regret when I don't do that.

@mwa: I think you're safe for the moment, I'm right off 34th Street so I'm in the middle of it all but I know it's much quieter where you are. But stock up on Hipster-B-Gone just in case.

@mwa: I'm right off of 30th Avenue too! So beware, they're around. ;)

@mwa: My building is full of encroaching hipsters, consider yourself lucky.

@CleverPseudonym: I totally agree, and also if any of these women "look" homeless I can't imagine they'd be getting a ton of job offers. So if a makeover makes them feel better and look better to a prospective employer I call it a win/win.

I think it's a nice idea actually. Job skills, housing, substance abuse treatment and education are all important without a doubt. But if this project gets these women to feel good about themselves and that they matter, that's not so insignificant.

This is fabulous. The only way it could be better is if it were signed: Betty Bowers

I love a good trashy novel! I didn't see it mentioned here, but Love Play by Rosemary Rogers had me enthralled at about 12 or 13, I'd love to read it now to see how it stands up to my memory.
