Good. One less live service money pit to watch die a slow death. I’m glad that they could acknowledge that this was going to hurt their bread and butter single player games and made the right call.

It was such a terrific scene. Both because of the homage to the movie as you note, but also because it revealed so much about Lorraine. I mean, she’s still horrid, but you got a real sense of how she got where she is now, that she HAD to become this coldhearted, wicked person, just to make it as a woman in a male…
I don’t think it’s what most of the audience signed up for, either. And Episode 9's “Ladies, your local angry fascist is actually a nice guy deep down, you should kiss him” ending has already aged incredibly badly.
What’s crazy is that they HAD a plan for the third movie, and then they decided to junk the entire thing and rewrite everything because of some mean tweets.
I assumed they wanted 3 different directors because they wanted the movies to come out every 2 years, and that’s hard for one director to handle (unless they’re filmed simultaneously). That still doesn’t excuse not having an overall plan for the story, though.
His arc was great from TFA to TLJ. It took a nosedive in TROS when his redemption came via deus ex hallucination of his dead father with recycled dialogue.
It’s just wild to me that there wasn’t a firm plan in place for this trilogy before setting out. Like the whole Marvel Endgame arc was clearly pretty well planned out and through some highs and lows they ended up with a fairly cohesive and very entertaining long term story but for some reason there wasn’t enough…
Fun to hear that people who were actually inside the production were as surprised as the general public that they decided to wing it with arguably the most valuable and beloved IP in entertainment.
Last Jedi set up so many possibilities, especially for Ren. They may as well have not made RoS.
Which is especially shitty given what a great cast they put together for the new characters. Along with Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac are all charming as fuck and they had great chemistry together.
His character arc was the one I liked. And the one that existed because no one else seemed to have one.
i feel like that exchange about how libertarians are essentially babies is going to end up going viral
Lorraine systematically devouring Roy throughout that entire scene should earn the episode a bonus half-letter grade, at least. Jennifer Jason Leigh has been superb every second she’s been on screen this season.
“bUt 0uR cOuNtRy Is D1FfErEnT!!!?!”
That’s like saying the country “didn’t need” Apocalypse Now or The Deer Hunter. Artists reflect the world we live in. No one’s making you not watch reruns of The Office instead.
Yeah that was my favorite moment. She utterly clocked him.
I read the scene as her needing to shut him up before his shouting gets the attention of one of the staff, or he presses his emergency call button.
I tend to agree that its probably the weakest episode so far but C seems to harsh. It’s definitely somewhere in the B range. The sit downs Lorraine has with multiple characters this week are just too good to have a grade that low.
Lorraine in no way is a good person, but damn if I didn’t enjoy her calling Roy out on his bullshit. Baby, indeed.
