The rise of Sauron, the creation of the Great Rings and the downfall of Númenor, the ancient predecessor to Gondor and Arnor. Everything conveniently compressed to a single human lifetime, rather than the +2,000 years it all takes in the “official” timeline, but adaptations require some sacrifices, I guess.

It wasn’t at all bad in Batman Begins, but for some reason Bale just started exaggerating it like crazy in The Dark Knight in a way that he only did for one scene in Begins

There’s a pretty cool classic Cyberpunk novel series with Arabic setting: When Gravity Fails by George Alec Effinger. It features a setting where both the Soviet Union and the United States collapsed, but the Islamic world got out of the simultaneous fall of communism and capitalism relatively unscathed and tons of

I found the bikes easiest to drive, personally.

The books are so short that I doubt they could stretch to three films on their own. There isn’t really any good cutoff point in them.

They better adapt Kyoshi trilogy, the novel of her story has been highly praised.

The comics are OK, but the Kyoshi novels are actually great, and the same author is going to publish a Yangchen novel soon.

And how is it that a lightsabre through the chest is, to quote the immortal Monty Python, “only a flesh wound?”

Depends on how fast system you’ve got I think. I’ve played on PC and can count the serious stutter issues with one hand. There used to be a little stutter whenever passing from one area to the next, but I never experienced it in combat and it vanished in 1.04 as far as I can tell.

That UI issue isn’t even new, it’s been on all the From games at least since Dark Souls. So it only took what, ten years to fix it?

Sorry, but how would you have done that? The Soviet Union collapsed, but Russia never surrendered to anyone. I doubt that even in their most weakened state they would have played along.

It made money in spite of everything, so I think that the DLC is still coming. Probably not until next year, though, since so much resources had to be put in fixing the game after publication.

Blaidd does go insane in the end, but he’s not the red invader, that’s a Baleful Shadow, one of the Fingers’ assassins after Ranni.

Ditto. The only open world game I’ve ever played where I almost never used the fast travel system. For all its problems, the game was gorgeous.

After Russia’s debacle in Ukraine, that particular threat seems to be a bit further away than previously anticipated.

This shooting took place in New York which has strict gun laws. If the shooter used an assault rifle, he obtained it illegally because those are banned in NY

This, along with Girls’ Last Tour are the best slice of life anime out there.

And apparently fake Ukrainian passports, as in the Russian officials said that the passports were fake. Why would you get those if you were a Ukrainian extremist out to commit a murder in Russia?

Apparently the dogs instakilling you with bloodloss no longer do so. They used to give you the bloodloss effect with every single frame of their attack, no that no longer happens.

I don’t think that Rowling’s worldbuilding was ever especially interesting and the more she writes, the more obvious it is that there wasn’t any sort of coherent plan for the setting, the Wizarding World only exists to serve the narrative needs of the story, not be a consistent setting in its own right.
