People are making a big deal out of this because it's literally never happened before.

This game would be instantly fine if the bird were made about 30% smaller.

As far as I can tell, the guy didn't steal anything. There are striking visual similarities to Mario sprites, but nothing is straight up stolen.

Even as someone that still plays and enjoys the game a great deal, I'm actually pretty surprised. This is usually the absolute worst time for subscriptions (end of an expansion cycle, no new content patch in a long time, etc.). Very unusual.

Half the comments on Kotaku (there are 6 as of this posting) are just as bad as you'd find on that shitty subreddit.

That's a great link: I've read similar thoughts on Robocop over the years. When I was a kid I liked it for its hard Sci-Fi. As an adult, I point at it as pure satire and a great example of science fiction examining modern events (a la Battlestar Galactica reboot).

Robocop is splendid, and it's a mistake of people to suppose that it's commonly enjoyed 'ironically'. He's a great take on the film:

Naw, Robocop holds right the fuck up. Verhoeven's black comedy about amoral corprate excess is still as pertinent today as when written, the action is still intense and the poor dude who got toxic-wasted is still as disturbing as fuck.

It does not bode well that the 'missing' dog has two different names and they're both food.
