The first two are actually OK first cars; reasonably sized, slow, not very good looking, and if you stick with the low-end models, pretty weak in terms of power.

Well, the bodywork is alright, but everything else is wrong. It's FWD and all of the engines produce more than 175HP, which if I recall correctly is the generally accepted limit for front-wheel-drive.
