This.... is just all kinds of awesome. Like, I'm actually literally in awesome of these amazing ladies for standing up for their rights like this and REFUSING to back down.
These women are awesome! I was following it on Twitter last night and someone called Cook out and was like "What is repetitive is the continued assaults on womens' rights!" (paraphrasing). I was clapping so loud I think they could hear me in Texas!
Better than all aforementioned, add a small amount of liquid fabric softener to the spray bottle of water...seriously, one of the best tips I have ever encountered.
"feminism is a hate group"
Well, there went taking anything you had to say seriously.
I am so disappointed. I hope this actually does lead to a policy change, but I'm not hopeful. I loved Kickstarter, but unless they address this a bit further, I'm not sure that continuing to fund their projects would be entirely in line with my values.
That's good advice! And congrats on having a job you love, but not resting on your laurels. :)
I know if I were to pursue an academic track I would be fine financially. I have a masters degree and received a kick-ass government bursary for it that basically ensures I would get a kick-ass bursary for my PhD. But I…
I once paid $95 for a good pair of running shoes. Sometimes a boy has to splurge!
I know I have responded to your comments before, and I just wanna say, I feel you so hard!
I'm someone who has never had a problem being an academic achiever, and have never thought of myself as a floater. Then my friend who I have always had a protectorate role over mini-interventioned me last night. It basically…
best cross over comment ever.
You know, I wouldn't have guessed this based on the backlash I got for compensating my female employees with gift baskets full of marshmallow fluff and Jolly Ranchers. They're all like, "Jobs are for making money for the FUTURE!"
I hate the normative "should"s that come into this dialogue.
This seems like a good place to leave this:
at the very least, it shows them that you do care about their well being but respect their boundaries. it can be cause for a distraction too... if i've had a bad meeting at work and can only think about what i should have said/did, it would be nice to not dwell at home. i'd rather my partner push me to go for a walk…
I've always been a morning person since I was a child. I tend to wake up naturally around 5am (couldn't tell you the last time I needed an alarm, but I would have been badly jetlagged) and by the time most people wake up I've probably emailed with friends around the world, gone to the gym for an hour, and made some…
It's because men's past behavior is a good predictor of future behavior and MANY men say they want to know what's wrong but don't really, or use the woman's directness as an opportunity to argue or deny. Additionally, claiming to have no clue what's wrong, you're not a mind-reader, etc., is a signal that you…
That is an unfortunate turn of events. It all boils down to this: unchecked crime continues. If we as a society fear repercussion for 'doing the right thing', then we take steps backward as a people. It only takes a few people willing to stand up.
So, for the commenters who obviously don't get it, let me point something out for you. In a social situation, when a guy's conversation with a woman turns bad for him, he might get rejected, get his feelings hurt a little bit. Maybe, at the worst, for him, there's something thrown in their face or another guy…
You might not have heard about the security guard that groped a journalist at this year's E3. Or the writer who gave…
